Scripture: Then you will discern righteousness and justice and equity and every good course (Proverbs 2:9).
Today’ Thought: Regardless of your personal perspective on the role of women in the workplace, your responsibility as an owner or manager is to be impartial. For your business to be successful, you should seek to fill each position with the best talent available, regardless of gender. It only makes sense, then, women would be hired, trained, and promoted on an equal basis with men.
Many women work to help balance the family budget, to support themselves, or, as single parents, to support themselves and their children. Yet even though women have played an increasingly prominent role in the workforce since the end of World War II, they still are often not treated equally with men.
Creating an equitable workplace starts with creating a well-written job description and having a clear understanding of the qualifications necessary for success in each position. Then look for employees whose interests, aptitudes, and personality fit the job and the climate of your company.
Impartial hiring and promotion decisions will strengthen your workforce, make everyone more productive, and increase your profits.
