Scripture: Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgement (John 7:24).
Today’s Thought: When identifying candidates for promotion, it is easy to look at appearances, such as how well a person dresses, or if he or she is a smooth talker, or how busy he or she appears when we walk by. However, if we want to make wise decisions, we will look beneath the surface and ask ourselves some key questions:
What is the quality and quantity of the person’s work?
Does the person follow through and honor commitments in a timely fashion?
When problems arise, does the person work constructively toward a
solution, point fingers, or avoid the situation altogether?
How is the individual perceived by coworkers?
Is he respected and looked to for leadership, or is he known to be difficult to get along with?
Don’t be swayed by appearances. Look at the whole person, dig below the surface, and your promotions will be on target.
A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is arrogant and careless (Proverbs 14:16).

If we want to make wise decisions, we will look beneath the surface and ask ourselves some key questions.
