Have you allowed yourself to become dull in your job?

Scripture: If the ax is dull and he does not sharpen its edge, then he must exert more strength. Wisdom has the advantage of giving success (Ecclesiastes 10:10).

Today’s Thought: If you’ve ever tried to cut wood with a dull ax, you know how much effort is required. But as soon as the blade is sharpened, the work can proceed with much less exertion. The secret lies in knowing when to stop and sharpen the blade. The same principle holds true at work. If you’re stuck in a pattern of doing the same thing every day, and you feel as though you’re becoming dull, perhaps it’s time to stop and “sharpen your ax.”

Sign up for a business seminar, read a business book or magazine, or attend a trade show. Take decisive action to restore a sharp edge to your productivity. Stay motivated and accept no excuses for not increasing you efficiency and effectiveness.

Often, we tell ourselves that we don’t have enough time for additional training or reading because we have too much work to do. But it always pays to stop long enough to sharpen the ax.

Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17).

It always pays to stop long enough to sharpen the ax.
