Do you chafe under your boss’s authority?

Scripture: Therefore he who resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God (Romans 13:2).

Today’s Thought: The Bible makes it clear that God has placed others in authority over us in order to perfect our character and accomplish his purpose in our lives. Consequently, we are to maintain a healthy respect for our superiors at work. We’re not to be fearful every minute of losing our jobs, but our boss’s power over us should encourage us to turn in reports on time, serve our customers well, and produce the best quality products we can.

Even if your boss is difficult to get along with, you are to submit to his or her authority out of reverence for Christ. Oftentimes a boss who is hard on you is simply trying to prepare you for greater responsibility and possible promotion by challenging your abilities and testing your resolve.

If you want to succeed at work, respect your boss, submit to authority, and produce reliable results.

The king’s favor is toward a servant who acts wisely, but his anger is toward him who acts shamefully (Proverbs 14:35).
