Do you coach new employees early in their employment?

Scripture: If a man pampers his servant from youth, he will bring grief in the end (Proverbs 29:21 NIV).

Today’s Thought: Sometimes we hire new employees because we’re overly busy and need more help. Unfortunately, this often translates into being too busy to properly train and coach our new hires. But if we don’t take advantage of those early days when the employee is fresh on the job and can be molded, we may allow bad habits to set in that later will be difficult to change.

When new employees start, devote the time necessary to provide thorough training. Make expectations clear. Give positive feedback for performance that meets with your standards and prompt correction when work falls below expectations. Don’t expect new employees to read your mind. Tell them what they need to know.

A little time invested in training today will save you hours of correction later. Start your staff off on the right foot for business success.

The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother (Proverbs 29:15).

A little time invested in training today will save you hours of correction later.
