Scripture: Do not reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you. Reprove a wise man, and he will love you (Proverbs 9:8).

Today’s Thought: When interviewing prospective employees, ask them to give three examples of lessons they’ve learned from previous bosses. If they can’t think of anything, consider that a red flag. Employees often don’t learn because they won’t learn.

When you find applicants who demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn on the job, ask them what they hope to learn from you and your company. If their answers reveal ambitions that are in line with your company’s needs, chances are that you’ve have found an employee who is poised for long-term growth and effectiveness on the job.

Ask the right questions to determine the right attitude before hiring, and you’ll acquire the best staff for long-term growth.

Drive out the scoffer, and contention will go out, even strife and dishonor will case (Proverbs 22:10).
