Scripture: Those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary (Isaiah 40:31).
Today’s Thought: Review the past thirty days. How many hours have you spent at work and how much time have you devoted to family, friends, and quiet time alone with God? Are you running too fast and too far? If you don’t have time for balance in your life, you’re doing more work than you should.
We all need to run occasionally in our businesses, but even well-conditioned runners stop to rest. To maintain your effectiveness at work, learn when to run and when to rest. If your life is galloping out of control, stop. Take time to restore the balance. Learn to delegate responsibility and share the load. Hire another employee so you can reduce your hours. If you get enough sleep, are tuned in to your family, and create unhurried quiet times with the Lord, all aspects of your life will improve.
The spirit of a man can endure his sickness, but a broken spirit who can bear? (Proverbs 18:14).
If you don’t have time for balance in your life, you’re doing more work than you should.
