Scripture: The things which you have heard from me…these entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also (2 Timothy 2:2).
Today’s Thought: Before you promote someone or hire a new manager into a position that requires major staff development, consider carefully whether the person possesses the gift of teaching. Successful instruction, mentoring, and coaching require a good deal of patience. Not everyone has the ability to teach others.
Another important criterion for evaluating management prospects is leadership ability. Can they make difficult decisions objectively, and are they able and willing to take the heat on behalf of their subordinates? Can they grasp the big picture and motivate others to work together for the common good and the success of the organization?
Carefully assess a manager’s ability to teach and to lead before promoting him or her to a position that requires these skills. Promote wisely and your business will prosper.
The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds persuasiveness to his lips (Proverbs 16:23).
Not everyone has the ability to teach others.
